Grigory Sokolov: Johann Jakob Froberger
I used to play a Plainte by Froberger that I was particularly fond of. I just ran across this recording of Sokolov playing Froberger in concert:
Sokolov is particularly remarkable at the realization of harpsichord music on piano and this is no exception.
Just enjoy.

I believe this is the only titled article here for Froberger. For other readers I strongly recommend checking him out if you like harpsichord and organ. One of if not the greatest of the 17th C keyboard players and his music is dynamic and inventive. There are quite a few fine recordings - eg Leonhardt, Verlet, Rousset, Gilbert, Rotaru. He wrote about 30 harpsichord suites plus many contrapuntal works for organ/keyboard. He had a rather colorful life but did suffer from extreme depression.
Yes, I think you are correct! I haven't mentioned Froberger previously. Great music. He was likely the most important originator of the Baroque keyboard suite.

Has anyone recorded F's suites on piano?
