THE MUSIC SALON: classical music, popular culture, philosophy and anything else that catches my fancy...
I've got a couple for you this morning. First, Frank Zappa with "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow"
And the Precipitato from the Piano Sonata no. 7, op. 83 by Prokofiev:
Now for the skill-testing question: what do these two pieces have in common?
Both in 7. Not sure if I like it, but Prokofiev is quite something.
That's the problem with this blog: it is hard to stump the commentators!
well if the score gets included for the Prokofiev in the video that does tend to be a dead give-away. ;)
Yes, I should have chosen a different performance, without the score. Because it's so syncopated you really can't hear the 7/8 in the Prokofiev.
I wish you had taken Sokolov’s interpretation of the Prokovief Precipitato. It is so much better than this one (and most other ones).Auke
I agree entirely, Anonymous. The only reason I didn't put up the Sokolov performance is that I have already posted it at least twice!
