Concerto Guide: Sibelius, Violin Concerto in D minor, op. 47

Those of you who are regular readers of this blog may remember that I did a whole bunch of posts on Sibelius a year or two ago. I talked about a lot of the symphonies, especially how he begins and ends them. But I also did a fairly substantial post on the Violin Concerto. It was composed in 1904 and begins our coverage of the concerto in the 20th century. I won't rehash my original post, which was in March of 2014, but just send you there to read it:
