A lot of gospel/praise music does this constantly to build congregations into a crazed ecstatic state. Pretty interesting psychological effect actually.Nathan Shirleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14123467208814463388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8827040061563065922.post-49800297011651476622014-07-29T07:41:35.642-05:002014-07-29T07:41:35.642-05:00I was just making a little joke, really. I think "And I Love Her" has one of these "truck-driver" modulations, though. But just up a semi-tone.Bryan Townsendhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09482696991279345516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8827040061563065922.post-41267918738149550922014-07-28T15:07:13.781-05:002014-07-28T15:07:13.781-05:00The "weird" key change is just a sudden ...The "weird" key change is just a sudden shift in key up a major second. It's about the cheapest, sugary sweet way to suddenly shift from one major key to another (the effect is supposed to add excitement). I wouldn't call it weird, just bad taste.

The Matisse quote is very nice.Nathan Shirleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14123467208814463388noreply@blogger.com
